Earlier this month, we got the first new song from UK veterans The Prodigy in over six years. Now they’ve followed it up with another – the title track from their forthcoming album, The Day Is My Enemy.
The trio’s second new single is a pounding anthem of epic proportions with a simple mantra: “the day is my enemy, the night my friend.” But despite the scale and energy of the song, The Prodigy don’t see themselves as part of EDM. “The dance scene has flatlined and we’re the spike.” said vocalist Maxim in a new interview. “We’re not here to save anything. Fuck that! We’re here to wipe it out.” Scroll down to hear The Day Is My Enemy.
The album doesn’t drop until March 30 so there’s a while to wait before we can hear how it stacks up, but you’ll be able to wrap your ears around it sooner than most if you’re heading to Future Music Festival. The first stop on the festival’s tour is in a month’s time, and The Prodigy will be headlining their own stage, joined by the likes of Die Antwoord, Nero, Tchami and bunch more high-energy acts.
