Hear the most raved-up Disclosure remix yet
Disclosure’s sophomore album has turned into a game of remix one-upmanship for a host of dance music’s finest, with the likes of Claude VonStroke, Claptone, Jonas Rathsman, Dillon Francis and Australia’s own Motez all turning in remixes.
The Lorde and Disclosure collaboration Magnets alone has picked some A-grade edits: A-Trak gave it an emotive house remix, then Jon Hopkins came in and blew everyone out of the water by turning the three-minute pop hit into a truly epic seven-minute masterpiece of swirling sound design.
Now, Montreal’s dark prince of electro Tiga has turned in his own Magnets remix, and it is damn fine, even if Tiga does say so himself (“I did a remix for Disclosure feat. Lorde,” Tiga wrote on Facebook, “and I’m in love, but I mean, I’m heavily biased”).
Tiga’s take is a raved-up beast that samples Joey Beltram aka Second Phase’s 1991 acid techno classic Mentasm; it’s all reverberating drums, rave synths, elegantly structured vocal loops and rushing, swoon-worthy chord progression.
You can listen to it below via YouTube; Tiga is spending the NYE period in Los Angeles, but you can catch the Disclosure brothers on our shores this summer, following up an appearance at India’s Supersonic Vh1 festival with dates at Field Day, Southbound and all three Falls Festivals, plus a pair of sideshow dates in Sydney and Melbourne.
