Last year, Ta-ku and new Future Classic signing Wafia joined forces on three tracks: they both featured on the Charles Murdoch single Frogs, teamed up for a cover of Estelle classic American Girl and worked together on Wafia’s big single Heartburn.

In 2016, the bond between the dream team is only getting stronger. Today Ta-ku and Wafia have shared Meet in the Middle, the first taste of a five-track collaborative EP called (m)edian they’ll release through Future Classic in August

As the first original track he’s used his own vocals on, Meet in the Middle is a milestone moment for Regan “Ta-ku” Matthews. “I’ve always wanted to sing on my records but I’ve never been confident enough,” he told inthemix last year. “I just recently said ‘what the hell’ and started singing over my own stuff…I’ve got to the point now where I can finally do it. I’m still shy about it, for sure, but the more I do it, the more comfortable I’ll feel with it.”

If you’re lucky enough to have snared a ticket to his sold out Sydney Opera House show as part of Vivid Live, you’ll get to hear Ta-ku do Meet in the Middle live with Wafia and a string quartet. For now, make do with the YouTube stream below.
