Hear Mat Zo’s “incredible” remix of Porter Robinson
Three years ago, Porter Robinson and Mat Zo collaborated on Easy, a bona fide hit that still gets played in Porter’s sets today. Now, the A-team has reunited – sort of. This time it’s not a collaboration but a remix, with Mat Zo putting his touch on Robinson’s album cut Flicker. Happily, the end result is just as special.
For his part, Porter’s declaring the Flicker edit “so, so incredible” and “one of the best remixes i’ve ever gotten in my life.” It’s the first track to come from the producer’s just-announced Worlds remix album, which will arrive in October packed with 12 different reworks (from 12 different artists) of the songs from his lauded debut album.
“There are a lot of special moments on this remix album [but] I think my favorite remains the Mat Zo one…to get him on remix duty—to me, that’s heavy-duty,” Porter told Billboard about the forthcoming release. “I think it’s great to put the album in front of people again and remind people about some of these songs and to get to showcase a bunch of artists who I’m enthusiastic about. That’s the best, and also I just like associating myself with things I think are good.”
Odesza, Sleepy Tom, Point Point, Chrome Sparks and Perth locals Slumberjack are among the other artists with a spot on Worlds Remixed. Hear Mat Zo’s take on Flicker below.
