Hear Jamie xx play live with a supergroup

Imminent Australian visitor Jamie xx stopped by Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show last night to play three tracks off his outstanding debut solo record In Colour: the spine-tingling Loud Places, Stranger in a Room and (for the first time ever) Seesaw.

He brought some superstar friends with him as well, to make up the band: on guitar, Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet; on drums, Stella Mozgawa from indie rock champions Warpaint (who plays regularly in Jamie xx’s new band); and, fittingly, Romy and Oliver from The xx.

“He’s clearly Beyoncé now,” Oliver joked, of Jamie’s solo success. “And me and Romy are Kelly and Michelle… Well done Jamie.”

Head over to the iPlayer on the BBC website and skip through to the 1.23 mark to listen to the three-song live session and some quality banter between Annie Mac and the superstar artists.

Jamie xx brings In Colour to Australia this NYE period, hitting Lost Paradise festival near Sydney and Beyond The Valley in Victoria, as well as a string of epic sideshows around the country, including two sold-out shows at Melbourne’s Forum Theatre, plus Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on 3 January, a Perth sideshow with Four Tet, an Adelaide sideshow at Thebarton Theatre, and the inaugural FOMO Festival – a huge one-day festival in Brisbane with RL Grime, Skepta and Boys Noize.
