UPDATE #2: The Harbourlife 2012 pre-sale has sold out in 30 minutes, which means 50% of capacity has been snapped up. The Public on-sale goes live at midday this Thursday 23 August via fuzzy.com.au. It’s strictly limited to five tickets per person.
As if the first day of summer wasn’t reason enough to celebrate, Fuzzy’s Harbourlife will be back to usher in the season on Saturday 1 December. Situated at the Fleet Steps, Mrs Macquaries Point, Harbourlife comes with an iconic view of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, city skyline and Botanic Gardens. There’s also set to be a soundtrack worthy of the spectacular outlook, with Fuzzy taking the wraps of its line-up today.
In the closing slot is one of the most versatile duos in dance music, 2manydjs. If you’ve tuned into Radio Soulwax at any point over its run, you’ll know the Dewaele brothers are fine selectors. Take, for example, the excellent ‘D&S CO’ show we premiered on inthemix last year, which took a giddy ride through eras and artists. Party sets are their speciality.
Also on the bill to bring the house is Mark Farina, who last hit Harbourlife in 2005. “Whenever I see even the briefest image of the iconic Opera House or Harbour Bridge anywhere I am in the world, I instantly remember playing in such a beautiful location, to such a warm and wonderful crowd that understands proper electronic music,” Farina says. “Harbourlife set the bar for quality very high, even before many other events ever existed. Proud to be returning.”
Local disco and house specialists Flight Facilities will warm the afternoon with the help of vocalist Jess Higgs. The production duo’s dream run has so far included world-travelling records like Crave You, Foreign Language and With You, and they’ll have no problem bringing the feelgood vibes. The same goes for Norwegian whiz Todd Terje, who’s as handy in the DJ booth as he is in the studio. German deep house team Adana Twins and fast-rising home-team star Flume round out the line-up.
Fuzzy director John Wall has plenty of enthusiasm about how the party’s going to play out this time. “It’s always been an honour to be able to hold a party in such a special, spectacular location and we’re excited as hell to be returning there this year with a swag of phenomenal DJs to play what I think is the perfect music for the first day of summer by the harbour: starting warm, deep and housey then building to a crescendo after night falls with the cut-up madness of 2manydjs.”
All tickets can be purchased at fuzzy.com.au. Pre-sale tickets available 21st August at 12 midday [$85 + BF] ahead of the public on sale 23 August at 12 midday.
