Golden Plains 2013 set times announced

With less than a month now before Golden Plains Lucky Seven pops up at the Supernatural Amphitheatre the official playing times have been announced. There’s no other Australian festival quite like Victoria’s Golden Plans (well, the Meredith Music Festival comes to mind…), and everything happens on the one stage. As ever, it’s a distinguished cast, with no shortage of after-dark action for the inthemix-inclined.

The four headliners – Cat Power, Dinosaur Jr, Tallest Man On Earth and George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic – is reason enough for celebration, and then there’s the guy we’ve been waiting for, Julio Bashmore, and Detroit enigma Moodymann bringing it home on Sunday (that’ll be a special set for the true believers). Homegrown star Flume will also be bringing the bass gems after 2am on the first night.

“Golden Plains is a lot more than just about the music,” wrote our reviewer in 2010. “In terms of organisation, this is a festival second to none – no car queues, no ban on BYO booze and a toilet paper guarantee every time you enter a stall. Plus, ‘no dickheads’, or so the unwritten policy on those attending Meredith festivals is said to go.”

Sunday morning’s proceedings kick off with a one-two punch of Melbourne ‘supergroup’ Bushwalking (Songs/Kes Band/Fabulous Diamonds) and Dick Diver, while The Mark of Cain and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion will go back-to-back from 4:30pm before making way for two hours of funk power with George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic.
