Go on the road with Skrillex in his must-see new mini-doco

Sonny ‘Skrillex’ Moore leads a very busy life. At 29, he’s a constantly touring dance music superstar, an in-demand producer, the dedicated label head of OWSLA – and yet still maintains a rep’ for being one of the nicest and most humble guys in the game.

Now you can see first hand just how flat-out insane Skrillex’s life actually is, with the release of his new mini-doco The Same Place, filmed by OWSLA associate Jas Davis. The 11-minute video follows Moore’s life on the road: he hops from private jet to private jet playing shows across the globe, has a quick recording session with MØ, plays ukulele with Dillon Francis, jams with Justin Bieber, jet-skis, and spends some time in Sao Paolo shredding on a guitar.

Amid the madness, he drops by an industry workshop to deliver some powerful home truths to aspiring producers. “Maybe there’s no science in what it takes to be called a musician because this wasn’t called music a couple years ago,”  he says to the audience. “The first time I went to the Grammys, people were still like ‘Why is this guy at the Grammys? He’s not making music.’”

“Make music for the 16-year-old inside yourself, even when you’re 50-years-old. Fuck the craft. Everyone can learn how to do this shit. Cultivate your own thing, stick together, and just do that. Have some fun, make some music. If it’s fun – that’s all that matters…I’m having fun. I’m in the same room you’re all sitting in right now. I’m in the same place you guys are.”
