Usually Japan’s Fuji Rock and Australia’s own Splendour in the Grass happen on the same weekend, with the two festivals regularly sharing drawcard acts.
In 2017, Splendour will happen one week earlier than Fuji Rock – that’s Friday July 21 to Sunday July 23 – but we’d wager the tradition of the two festivals sharing artists will continue. Or at least that’s what we’re hoping, because the Fuji Rock line-up has landed and it’s packing some absurdly big names.
Twisted genius Aphex Twin and electronic pioneer Bjork are both headlining the Japanese festival – and while Bjork was last here with Vivid in 2016, Richard D. James hasn’t been in Australia since the 2012 edition of Future Music Festival. Fuji’s also snagged LCD Soundsystem, Major Lazer and The xx, as well as live acts like Queens of the Stone Age and Lorde. So if this looks anything like the Splendour line-up, we don’t give a damn about the mud.
Currently Aphex Twin, Bjork, Lorde, LCD Soundsytem and Major Lazer do not have shows that clash with Splendour’s 2017 dates. See the full Fuji Rock line-up below.
