Flying Lotus’ new music video is perfectly creepy for Halloween
Have you heard of Salad Fingers? The Adult Swim cartoon, initially created by animator David Firth as a web series in 2004, is about a green man with unusual fingers – and yes, it’s just as creepy as it sounds.
Little surprise, then, that Firth and his morbid aesthetic were recruited by beatmaker and general oddball himself, Flying Lotus, for his new Ready Err Not music video. The video will make its official television premiere on Adult Swim, but for now it’s here – and just after Halloween, no less – to give viewers the creeps (and possibly nightmares).
Don’t say we didn’t warn you: the first thing to pop up on the screen is a viewer discretion message acknowledging that the video contains scenes that some may find “disturbing.” Case in point: not even thirty seconds into the video, the You’re Dead! composer loses his head to an axe-wielder…but that’s where the story (and song) really begins.
Were we quite ready for eyeball-bearing spiders, endless trains of intestines and self-splicing bodies? We might have to give that an “Err Not,” but the video and its macabre art style are captivating, especially combined with FlyLo’s skulking production.
If Ready Err Not suits your fancy, Flying Lotus’ new album You’re Dead! is filled with death-related themes, from the hymnal Coronus, The Terminator to the Kendrick Lamar-guested Never Catch Me. Check out the Ready Err Not music video below…if you dare. Flying Lotus will be hitting our shores for Laneway Festival next February.
