Flume’s debut album coming next month
Boy wonder Flume’s been hot on the lips of everyone from triple j to the US Rolling Stone and (of course) ITM for the past 12 months. Since smashing onto the scene last year with the huge jam Sleepless, the title track from his debut EP, the 20 year old’s wasted no time amassing a cult of fans – 30,000+ on Facebook, to be precise. With the plaudits rolling in from his hometown Sydney and abroad, Harley Streten’s been called on to support big internationals like The xx and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs as well as add his name to the Parklife, Splendour in the Grass, Laneway and OutsideIn lineups.
All of which is to say that there’s a lot of people hanging out for Flume’s debut album. Thankfully then, the wait is almost over – Future Classic will release the self-titled debut on November 9 in digital, CD and vinyl form. Sleepless naturally has a spot in the tracklisting, but the remainder of the 15-track album is all new stuff, including collaborations with fellow wave-makers Chet Faker and Moon Holiday. The first single from the album, Holdin On, was unveiled on triple j last week and as we’ve come to expect from Flume, it’s stellar stuff. We’d wager the rest of the album will be just as impressive – check out the teaser vid below.
