Has the first Splendour in the Grass 2017 act just outed themselves?

It will probably be another month before Splendour in the Grass unveil who they’ve got on the line-up for 2017, but we reckon you can pretty much lock Bonobo in now.

The Ninja Tune recruit has just announced he’s returning to New Zealand for one show this July together with his full live band. Bonobo will play Auckland’s Town Hall on Thursday July 27, which is only a few days after Splendour wraps up in Byron Bay – and we’d wager the L.A.-based producer isn’t coming all this one way for one show.

Splendour in the Grass returns to the North Byron Parklands from July 21 – 23. Typically the festival drops its line-up in April of each year, meaning there won’t be long to wait before we know for sure who is on the 2017 bill.

For some more hints at who Splendour might have playing this year, take a look at the line-up for Japan’s Fuji Rock – the two festivals often share acts, and Fuji has snared some absurdly big names (think Aphex Twin, Lorde, Bjork, LCD Soundsystem…) for 2017.

2017 is the first year that Splendour will be run by touring company Live Nation, who acquired SITG’s parent company Secret Sounds late last year.
