First act confirmed for Laneway Festival line-up

Hudson Mohawke has confirmed his place on the line-up for the 2016 St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival tour.

The Scottish producer blabbed the news during an interview, telling Stoney Roads, “I don’t know if it’s been announced yet but we’ll be at Laneway next summer for you guys.” The tour will see HudMo – aka Ross Birchard – performing live with Two Door Cinema drummer Ben Thompson and London producer Redinho on keys. The live production has been developed with help from a designer who worked with FKA Twigs on her gigs.

“We wanted to kind of transcend the sort of EDM live show thing and do something that felt a bit more organic,” Birchard explains. “This designer does a lot of high fashion runway shows as opposed to a lot of strobes and glitter type thing – we wanted to step away from that and do something a bit more organic rather than straight ‘hands in the air’.” Hud Mo has just dropped his new album Lantern which features guest vocals from Jhené Aiko, Antony Hegarty and Miguel via Warp.

Last week, Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock hinted that the band could also be part of the festival while the line-up for Laneway’s annual SXSW party (hopefully) provided a few clues about who they’re bringing to Australia in 2016. The line-up for the festival is expected to drop in September.
