Festival giant Sensation is coming to Australia in 2017
Dutch mega-festival Sensation is coming back to Australia this year.
Sensation tonight announced that it will hit Sydney Olympic Park on Saturday, November 25 — the same weekend and venue that Stereosonic was held at before going on hiatus — for their first Australian event in seven years. In keeping with tradition, the dress code for Sensation will be all-white.
Sensation was last in Australia for a two year run in 2009 and 2010, where it brought in the New Year at Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium. Since first launching in Amsterdam in 2000, Sensation has grown to become one of dance music’s biggest festival brands, bringing events to 34 different countries and hosting sets from selectors like Eric Prydz, Armin van Buuren, Tiesto and Zedd.
It’s the brainchild of ID&T, the festival giants who also put on Belgium’s world-famous Tomorrowland and Dutch EDM fest Mysteryland — an event that was previously rumoured to have Australia in its sights.
Sensation is the latest in a string of big international festival brands to announce an Australian expansion. Ultra Music Festival announced their plans to come Down Under in March, later revealing a ‘Road To Ultra’ event will hit Melbourne in February 2018, with the full-scale Ultra Music Festival hitting both Sydney and Melbourne in 2019. This month, Chinese festival Storm announced it will hit Sydney sometime in 2017.
Sensation haven’t revealed when we can expect to find out their 2017 line-up, but ticket pre-registrations are open on the website now.
