Eric Prydz breaks US tour drought for ID Fest
As reported by MTV over in the U.S., Swedish titan Eric Prydz hasn’t toured the States “in a big way” since 2007. His hesitance to work the North American circuit is no doubt tied to the DJ’s well-documented fear of flying, which thwarted his Australian tour in the summer of 2008/’09. Either Prydz has found some medication that works, a new Zen state, or a boat, but he’s set to headline the ‘EDM’ roadshow Identity Festival across the U.S. in July and August 2012.
The Swede of course has a new compilation to spread the word on, Eric Prydz Presents Pryda, which arrives in Australia on 18 May. He’ll be showing it off to the neon-drenched ‘rage’ hordes in amphitheatres from Cincinnati to Phoenix, backed up by a fleet of big acts. Wolfgang Gartner, Hardwell, Madeon, Excision, Porter Robinson, Nero, Paul van Dyk, Showtek and Arty are all in the touring party, with many more set to be announced. This is the second year of Identity Festival, with 2011’s tour headlined by Kaskade and Steve Aoki.
As previously reported on inthemix, Eric Prydz presents Pryda is a three-disc collection of his key productions under the moniker. The first disc in the package comprises previously unreleased Pryda material, while discs two and three focus on the enduring weapons he’s turned out over the years. All this is a lead-up to the Eric Prydz debut artist album, which is set for a late-2012 release. Is this U.S. jaunt a glimmer of hope for us?
