EMC drop their huge first round of speakers for 2017

Sydney’s Electronic Music Conference has announced its first round of speakers for its massive 2017 program.

Dance pioneer Andrew Weatherall, Aussie export Tigerlily, Eglo Records head Alexander Nut, Miss Banks, Vice’s Alice Kimberley and Zouk’s Andrew Li are just a few of the names that will be speaking at the conference in November. They’ll join local industry leaders from Falcona, etcetc, Future Classic, VICE, FBi Radio, Motorik, Inertia, APRA AMCOS, Undr Ctrl, and more.

They’ll take part in panels such as ‘When Beats Just Don’t Match; Mental Health in Electronic Music’ and ‘Conscious/Unconscious Gender Bias’, as well as a deep dive into the health of Sydney’s nightlife with ‘Fighting For The Right To Party; Activism in Electronic Music’, featuring Keep Sydney Open’s Tyson Koh. Check out the full alphabetical list of speakers below; plenty more speakers will be announced in the coming months.

EMC will take over Redfern’s Giant Dwarf Theatre and venue Cake Wines Cellar Door over two days from November 29 to 30. The conference’s showcase EMCPlay will also be returning this year, bringing a stack of talent to venues and parties across the city. Applications to take part in EMCPlay open October 9 and close midnight October 22.

Tickets for EMC will set you back $219 for a full two day pass, with cheaper options available if you want to pick and choose your sessions. Tickets are on sale now, so get in there quick.
