Right now Sydney is being overrun by the dance music industry, as hordes of artists, managers, label reps, publicists, bookers and agents roll into town for the 2016 Electronic Music Conference, which kicks off tonight with the official welcome drinks.
After the welcome drinks – which start from 6pm at ivy tonight – the conference program gets underway tomorrow. All day on Tuesday and Wednesday, EMC will take over ivy for two full days of panels, keynote interviews and production masterclasses. Highlights on this year’s program include keynotes from Amsterdam’s Night Mayor Mirik Milan, who’ll be and Sydney-bred, L.A.-based superstar Alison Wonderland.
The rise of vinyl, the fate of Sydney’s nightlife, how LGBTI culture is driving our clubbing experience – it’s all up for discussion and debate across two packed days at EMC. Then there’s EMCPlay, the huge showcase of Australia’s upcoming dance music talent: over 65 artists will take to four venues across Sydney on Wednesday night, making it the biggest event of the local dance music calendar.
The inthemix awards will take place on Thursday, honouring the best of the best in local music. Then EMC finishes off with the closing party at none other than the blistering new techno festival Tell No Tales on the Sunday. In short, there’s a lot happening, and you should probably get amongst it.
There are still last minute tickets available, so get your hands on them here and be a part of the the action.
