Ed Banger drops details on its NYC 10th birthday bash
Earlier this year Busy P and his Ed Banger Records crew revealed they’d be taking the party around the world, marking the label’s 10th birthday with a series of events that would tour across several continents. The festivities kicked off in Los Angeles at the HARD Summer festival over the weekend, with Ed Banger curating its own stage, and they’ve also just revealed details on what to expect when the tour reaches New York City in November.
The Ed Banger Records 10th Anniversary Party will hit Hammerstein Ballroom on November 2nd, will feature a DJ set from French heavies Justice as well as an ‘Ed Banger Megamix’ from the master of ceremonies and label head himself Busy P. Fellow Frenchman Breakbot will be on support, with special guests also promised.
Busy P rose through the ranks as the manager behind Daft Punk’s world conquering success, though he established the Ed Banger stable in 2003 as a means of realising his own musical visions. It soon grew into a dance phenomenon, and the leading home for hard rockin’ French electro that’s kept the energy levels high right into double figures, showcased on the Ed Rec Vol. X compilation that was released in June.
inthemix got on the phone with Busy P himself earlier this year to talk to Ed Banger anniversary, and to discuss some of the highpoints of the label since it was founded.
“I often speak about the time around 2006/2007 when everyone was discovering the sound,” he told inthemix.”You had the indie kids, the little cute girls, the hip hop heads and the techno heads all realise, ‘Okay, maybe we can listen to each others’ music’… I’m nostalgic for the time where it was DJ Mehdi, SebastiAn, Justice and myself all together playing CDs and it was a mess on stage and a mess in the crowd. We lost Mehdi and things have changed but I’m really happy with the crowds and the smiles that I’ll always remember from then.”
