Diplo and Alison Wonderland just dropped new tracks so your Friday listening is sorted
There are plenty of new singles doing the rounds today — including efforts from Canberra’s SAFIA, and Cosmo’s Midnight — but two of the biggest are coming our way from Alison Wonderland and Diplo.
Yesterday, Wonderland announced that her second album Awake — the followup to 2015’s Run — was finally on its way. We didn’t get a release date, but we did get a look at the album’s demonic cover — and a promise of a new single called ‘Church’, which has landed today.
“[‘Church’] is about a pocket of my life where I got out of something that was holding me down for a long time,” Wonderland told triple j earlier in the week. “I was around people that weren’t good for me; toxic people who were not treating me well, borderline emotionally abusive and it brought me down to feeling quite weak. ‘Church’ was the song that triggered me to get out of it.”

Superstar producer Diplo is also gearing up for a new release: his California EP, which is due to land next month. We don’t know much about it, except that it could contain tracks like his summer anthem ‘Get It Right‘, and his recent collaboration with Cashmere Cat and Tory Lanez.
It’ll almost certainly contain this new one, a big cut called ‘Look Back’ that features Virginian rapper DRAM (of ‘Broccoli’ fame.) The track was a bit of a team effort, with Californian singer Tinashe coming in for backing vocals, and Diplo’s Jack Ü partner Skrillex coming in to hang in the studio with them all.
