Deadmau5 made you a playlist of his favourite songs

Last week, Deadmau5 delivered his latest piece of handiwork, the epic double album 5 Years of Mau5. Packed with two CDs worth of Joel Zimmerman’s biggest hits and new remixes from friends like Dillon Francis and Eric Prydz, the release is the last thing Zimmerman will have to put out through his US label Ultra Records and – perhaps begrudgingly – that means he’s on the promo trail.

Lucky for us, that led the mau5 to Beatport, where he’s contributed a list of his favourite tracks right now to their “chart” series. We can’t embed the chart here, but head to Beatport and you can see the tunes Zimmerman’s picked out. The Dillon Francis remix of Some Chords and tracks from longtime mau5 favourites Aphex Twin, Plastikman, James Holden and Pryda all feature, alongside Joel’s mau5trap signee Eekkoo and Feed Me’s other moniker Spor.

With the contract-ending release out of the way, Deadmau5 has retreated to his new home in rural Ontario to “get back to work on some more crazy things for 2015.” A few weeks after moving in, he’s already began plotting something new: a 45,000 square foot studio complex for “actual musicians” to work out of. While we wait for more news on that, head to Beatport to hear the tunes Joel’s loving now, or listen to the picks via Soundcloud below.
