Deadmau5 drops more music on the SoundCloud that never sleeps

There are very few SoundClouds out there as active as Deadmau5’s. When he’s not trolling EDM, the studio fiend is hard at work on music he actually cares about. In the last few days, he’s uploaded a flurry of new productions, including the two longer pieces embedded below.

On the dark, pensive tip, there’s somewhere up here (fin) with its scuzzy guitar line and crunchy drums. Then the ode to Minecraft, Turbo CartPig Racer, is the kind of tune that could be buffed and polished into something festival-ready. Of the latter, one fan has commented, “Deadmau5 can Kavinsky!”, and there’s definitely a shadow of that Frenchman’s video-game soundscapes. The crowd at the fast-approaching Veld Music Festival in Toronto, Ontaria, may just hear Turbo CartPig Racer put through its paces when Deadmau5 steps up for his headline set.

Meanwhile, the mau5’s Twitter followers have been revelling in his recent encounter with another superstar Canadian, Justin Bieber. (He’s already regretting that Selena Gomez tweet, it seems.)

Since his appearances at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival and Lollapalooza Brazil a few months back, Deadmau5 has been limiting his sets to Las Vegas, where he’s been poached by the MGM Grand’s lavish new $100 million super-club Hakkasan and its poolside party spot Wet Republic in the ‘Unhooked’ guise. Inside Hakkasan, he’s joined on the regular by his new ‘mau5bots’ – “12 feet and two tons each of pure mechanical bliss”. Have a listen to the new creations below, and find more experiments here.
