Chet Faker’s new song ‘The Trouble With Us’ is here
Fresh from shaving off his beard, Chet Faker has dropped a new song and released details of his forthcoming EP, a collaboration with DFA Records name Marcus Marr.
Long time mutual admirers of each other’s work, Faker and Marr bunkered down for a few days of recording at a London studio earlier in the year. The result was the 4-track EP Work, which will be released via Faker’s own Detail Records on December 4. The first taste of the collaboration is The Trouble With Us which is described as an “intergalactic funk-tinged” track. Listen below.
Faker recently teamed up with Melbourne soul outfit The Cactus Channel to released two songs, and has also said that he is deep into recording the followup to last year’s acclaimed debut, Built on Glass. “I wrote half an album in three weeks,” he revealed in June. “I didn’t even want to go back on tour because I was on a roll. I’m excited about it. It’s a step forward. It’s different. I wanted to force journalists to use adjectives outside the word ‘chilled’ and ‘crooner’ and ‘bearded’ and all that shit they’ve been running with.”
Chet Faker is about to kick off a run of east coast shows, hitting his biggest venues to date and promising to deliver a treat for fans with an expanded band, never before performed songs, and “more than a few surprises along the way”. More on that tour over here.
