The artist formerly known as Chet Faker just dropped a new track with Kaytranada
Farewell Chet Faker, hello Nick Murphy: the Future Classic star has officially rebranded with a new EP and a single called ‘Your Time’, produced by none other than Kaytranada.
‘Your Time’ was released overnight, followed shortly after by the full five-track EP titled Missing Link. If the new track sounds familiar, that’s because we’ve heard it before: Kaytra debuted a heavier version of ‘Your Time’ at the very end of his 0.001%??? mixtape on SoundCloud in September last year.
“Chet Faker was me trying to prove something to myself”, said Murphy in a press release farewelling his old sound and attitude. “My tastes are pretty dynamic and I realised I’ve spent time resisting that. Now I want to put everything in. It’s not conceptual anymore. It’s just me, and it made sense to show that in a name. It feels like a rediscovery.”
Along with recent singles ‘Fear Less’ and ‘Stop me (Stop You)’, Missing Link marks his first official music as Nick Murphy, and his first new release since 2014’s full-length Built On Glass.
Next month, Murphy will perform three shows at the Sydney Opera House for Vivid LIVE, following which he’ll embark on an international tour across the USA, UK and Europe. Listen to ‘Your Time’ below.
