Check out the huge party for Brisbane’s last night without lockouts

Queensland’s dreaded lockout laws come into force in just under a month. From Friday 1 July 2016, clubs and pubs in designated nightlife precincts, like Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, will have last drinks called at 3am. Everywhere else in the state, it’ll be last drinks at 2am. And from February next year, there’ll be a 1am lockout in those designated nightlife precincts.

But a bunch of venues, party throwers and music industry types in the Valley aren’t taking the new restrictions lying down: they’re saying au revoir to their last night of late-night-partying freedom with one big shindig across four venues.

Brisbane’s Big Kick On will take over four venues in Fortitude Valley – The Brightside, Black Bear Lodge, The Flying Cock and The Foundry – with a stack of local bands like Baskervillain, The Jensens, Twin Haus and Golden Vessel, plus party DJs like the I OH YOU crew playing late. And best of all, entry to every venue is entirely free – all you have to do is pay homage to the cause and sign an anti-lockouts petition at the door.

Check out the poster below for more details: it all happens in the Valley from 8pm until late on Thursday 30 June. You can RSVP to the Facebook event over here.
