The Chainsmokers X Nickelback mashup you never wanted is here

Ah, The Chainsmokers. They’re the chart-topping, globe-conquering producers of tracks like Closer and Don’t Let Me Down –  they’re also arguably the least likeable, most stereotypical EDM frat bros this decade has seen. (If you don’t know what we’re talking about, catch up with their Billboard interview.)

So it was only a matter of time before someone compared duo Drew Taggart and Alex Pall to Nickelback – which is exactly what Esquire did this week. In their words: “[The Chainsmokers are] doing for EDM what Nickelback did to post-grunge arena rock: becoming immensely popular by using the worst cliches the genre has to offer, and then taking it down to the river and putting it out of its misery.”

Instead of responding with fire, The Chainsmokers clapped back by sharing a video of themselves mashing up their latest single Paris with Nickelback “classic” How You Remind Me, and it’s as hard on the ears as you’d expect.

Listen to it below, but don’t say we didn’t warn you.
