Calvin Harris goes full dancehall on new single ‘Nuh Ready Nuh Ready’

There are no quiet years in the life of Calvin Harris.

Last year, the Scottish producer topped charts around the globe with his feature-heavy album Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1 and Frank Ocean collab ‘Slide’ — which cracked triple j’s Hottest 100 and earned him a Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year.

But while the hitmaker recently flagged that we wouldn’t be seeing a Funk Wav followup anytime soon, he instead promised fans “a whole new experience” with his upcoming music in 2018. And that experience started today, with the release of ‘Nuh Ready Nuh Ready’.

The track is a collaboration with Canadian rapper and singer PARTYNEXTDOOR, who Calvin became friends with during the making of Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1.

“I didn’t really figure him out anymore working with him,” Harris told Beats 1 presenter Zane Lowe. “I just know that his pen and his voice and his delivery is, I think, amongst the best in the world.

“I worked with him on my last album and I was aware that I underused him and I felt embarrassed and ashamed from underusing him. He sang a hook on a track, I was like, ‘Come on you need to do more if you can.’ So that’s just what I did.”

And so ‘Nuh Ready Nuh Ready’ was born; listen to the track below.
