Calvin Harris promised a huge remix for marriage equality and fans are getting impatient

Way back in 2012, Calvin Harris was hanging out at the bar at Marquee in Sydney, chatting to a guy called Filip. During the course of their conversation, the Scottish producer made an iron clad promise: if Australia ever legalised same-sex marriage, he would remix the Spice Girls track ‘2 Become 1’.

Well guess fucking what Calvin, your time has come. Yesterday, the Australian parliament voted almost unanimously to pass marriage equality — and Filip was immediately on the case.

“Hi Calvin, you might not remember me but my name is Filip with an F and we met during the 2012 Stereosonic tour in Australia,” Filip wrote in a message to Harris.

“During your appearance at Marquee in Sydney, while hanging backstage in the library bar, we made a deal – sealed with a hand shake – that you would remix Spice Girls ‘2 Become 1’ when marriage equality was finally legalised in Australia.

“Well it just happened today. For five years I’ve been waiting for this! I’m very excited to hear what you do with the iconic track to celebrate this momentous occasion. A deal is a deal!”

Fans all around the world have now jumped on the bandwagon, all urging the producer to make good on his promise and deliver that remix.
