Boys Noize scores remixes from the Chemical Brothers and Justice

“I’ve got some crazy remix news,” German mastermind Boys Noize announced to his Twitter followers back in September 2012. “One of my heroes has remixed XTC!” That heroic act is the Chemical Brothers, who choose their remix jobs carefully. Their take on XTC, one of the standouts from the recent Boys Noize album Out Of The Black, will appear on the 100th release from Boysnoize Records, a 12-inch single of remixes. The Chemical Brothers effort will occupy Side A of BNR100, while on the flip, Ed Banger heroes Justice go all-out on Ich R U. Not a bad double-bill of remixers, at all. You can listen to frustratingly-short previews of both efforts below.

This weekend, Boys Noize and his Skull will arrive in Australia for the first round of Future Music Festival. “As a DJ I play my new stuff only, so for the live show, I reworked every single myself,” Alex Ridha told inthemix. “They actually give me a new kick. It’s cool to see them in a live concert, because they come to life.”

As for ‘The Skull’ design, it all started with the cover of the debut Boys Noize album, 2007’s barnstorming Oi Oi Oi. Occasional BNR recruit Siriusmo has played a key role in bringing it to life.

“I was using The Skull on my first album, but it looked a bit different,” Ridha said. “My friend Siriusmo from Berlin makes incredible music, but he’s also a wonderful graffiti artist. We were thinking of how we can bring back The Skull in a way that doesn’t look cheesy and doesn’t remind me of a roller-coaster prop. So we’re designing this new one that looks really minimal and futuristic. The idea was still to have that rough, natural feeling on-stage.”
