Boys Noize, Diplo, Calvin Harris hop aboard new Scissor Sisters LP
As reported by AltSounds, Scissor Sisters leading man Jake Shears has been talking up the assembly of dance stars with production credits on the group’s forthcoming fourth album, Magic Hour. The first cab off the rank for the release is the single Only the Horses, co-produced with electro-pop gun Calvin Harris. Shears and Harris met when they worked on Kylie’s album Aphrodite, and says Shears “When we wrote Horses, I knew immediately that he’d [Harris] help knock it out of the park”.
However, perhaps the most notable collaboration is that with Alex Rhida, more readily known ‘round these parts as Boys Noize. After collaborating for a joint mixtape last year, Shears told inthemix in September that the German has played a big role in the group’s new. “He’s an incredible friend and is just awesome and really inspires us,” Shears explained. It’s an unlikely combination. I’ve really developed a taste for very hard techno music and that’s what led me to him. I’ve developed this insatiable appetite for dance music.”
Man-of-many-monikers Stuart Price (AKA Jacques Lu Cont) has also leant his production skills, as has Diplo and the Splendour in the Grass-bound Azealia Banks – “It was a pretty collaborative effort” Shears stated. We’ll believe the “very hard techno” claims when we hear them, but all in all it sounds like the Sisters could be veering towards dance-ier territory with the new LP.
