Avicii shares his “next level” Future Music Festival plans

In just over a week, Future Music Festival will finally kick off for 2015. And as today’s set times revealed, EDM headliner Avicii’s got 90 minutes to play with in every city, where he’ll be closing out the brand new Supernova mainstage.

The Future tour will be his first new shows after a six month hiatus from touring, and you can bet Tim Bergling’s got some big things planned. “I can’t wait to get back to Australia,” an excited Avicii told inthemix when we got him on the phone yesterday.

The hitmaker has two big new things to show off at Future: a stack of new album material and a new visual show. “It looks really next level compared to the stuff I’ve done before, which was already next level,” Avicii told us. “I’m really excited to see how that pairs with all the new tracks I have. I haven’t played anywhere for six months either so I’m excited about playing again in general.”

Australia will be the first place in the world to hear tracks from his new album played out on stage, the follow-up to Platinum-selling 2013 debut True. “There’s a lot of different collaborators…there’s like 60 people that I collaborated with,” he told inthemix. “I took a break for six months and there’s a lot of stuff from the last six months that I haven’t even played yet, which I’m excited and nervous about.”

Avicii will be playing on the new Supernova stage, designed by James Klein, the man who brought Ultra Music Festival’s epic 2013 mainstage to life. Check out the designs below and read more about what to expect on Future’s new and improved mainstage here.
