Australia just snagged the best NYE party ever

On NYE 2013, Young Turks – the label home to the likes of Jamie xx, FKA Twigs and SBTRKT – teamed up to throw one of the greatest New Year’s parties of all time. On a beach in Tulum, Mexico, their entire artist roster plus friends like Grimes and Four Tet rocked up for bash that ran into the daylight hours. Now, Young Turks are bringing their famous New Year’s vibes to Australia.

On December 31, Young Turks will team up with local label Siberia Records for a New Year’s bash a few blocks from the beach in Wollongong. “This year’s party will be much different, but just as special, featuring an all-DJ-line-up of all unannounced local and international talent in the very intimate setting of a small-town laneway,” Young Turks promise. One of those unannounced DJs is almost certainly Jamie xx, who will be in the country for a string of New Year’s dates including one together with Four Tet.

And with Wollongong an easy 90 minute drive from Sydney, they’re anticipating an influx of city folk: “The party is a celebration of the vibrant music scene in Sydney, which this year faced immense challenges from the governments’ stringent policing of nightclubs and provides an intimate and laid back alternative to the bigger, commercial dance festivals.”

The party runs from 8pm to 2am, “with private afterparties sure to ensue”. Tickets go on sale today, Friday November 27, with the first release priced at $85.
