Anna Lunoe signs to Ultra Music, drops new single
For the past 18-odd months, Sydney expat Anna Lunoe has been based in her new home of Los Angeles. With a non-stop show schedule, a slot at this year’s Ultra Music Festival, work with AC Slater and a few quality mixes to boot, Anna’s been all-systems-go since the big relocation. So it’s good to hear that the hard work has paid off: Lunoe’s just been signed to US label juggernaut Ultra Music.
News of the big signing coincided with the release of her new single Breathe – a joint Ultra Music/Fool’s Gold Records release – which you can wrap your ears around below (and grab on Beatport if you’re US-based). “You hear stories of big labels wanting to change your songs and make you into something that you are not, but what made me excited about working with Ultra was that they just loved all the songs I had done and wanted to sign everything the way it was, so I felt artistically safe,” Anna told inthemix this morning.
So what will signing to one of the biggest labels in the US mean for Lunoe? “I don’t think it will change too much day to day really, but now I have more support and access to resources that I have never had before, so that side of it is really exciting,” she told inthemix. “I have not had a break from touring in over five years so I can’t imagine that there could be any more of that! But definitely more studio and collab’ work. So basically just more of what I was already doing, but now things are a little more organised!”
And as for an Australian release date on Breathe? “We are trying to work that out now. I really want it to be soon, because I know what it’s like to not be able to get a release when I want it!”
