Amsterdam Dance Event locks in 2014 dates, expects biggest-ever turnout
Last fall, over 300,000 dance fans and industry heads from 75 countries converged upon Amsterdam for the Amsterdam Dance Event: five days of conferences and music. At its apex, the young Hardwell was crowned Best DJ in the World by way of DJ Mag’s Top 100 poll (revisit some of the other highlights here). And now, after everyone’s had some time to recover, the organisers have announced the dates for this year’s dance music conference.
The nineteenth installment of the international gathering will take place from October 15-19, and – according to DJ Mag – it’s expected to draw a record number of over 350,000 visitors. Organisers have estimated that ADE has “doubled in size over the past three years,” which has no doubt been helped by electronic music’s emphatic march into popular culture.
“The success of ADE and the health of the electronic music sector are inextricably linked,” said ADE director Richard Zijlma. “Dance music is currently in the process of conquering the world, with more and more countries and industries getting involved. Consequently ADE has become a global knowledge and business platform that the world – and the Netherlands and Amsterdam in particular – all benefit from. It’s not for nothing that dance music is now an important part of the cultural policy of the Dutch government.”
October may be many months away, but it’s never too early to start getting hyped. Check out the official after-movie from ADE 2013 below, complete with musings from Richie Hawtin, Danny Tenaglia and DJ Sneak; and of course, a load of music.
