2012 inthemix awards results incoming tonight

Tonight, Tuesday 18 September, Australia’s dance music industry will come together in Sydney for the 2012 inthemix awards ceremony. Last year saw the well-established inthemix50 transformed into a broader event celebrating the biggest and brightest achievements in Australian dance music, and this time sees the pool widen to include a host of industry-voted awards. Make sure to check the inthemix awards website tonight at 11pm for the full results, including the public-voted favourite Australian DJ, Major Festival, Club Night and International Artist. The industry-voted awards include Breakthrough Artist, Best Track/Remix, Best Live Act and more, so there’s sure to be plenty of celebrating carrying through to the wee hours.

So, who’s your picks for top honours in 2012? This time last year saw Queensland club mainstays The Stafford Brothers ascend to the #1 spot in the Top 50 DJs poll, with the top five rounded out by TyDi, The Aston Shuffle, MaRLo and Andy Murphy. Those top five DJs have once again had an illustrious run over the past 12 months, ticking off international touring, album releases and prime festival slots, but there’s sure to be a surge of other high-achievers looking to disrupt the rankings. To get mighty clichéd for a moment: Australian dance music is going to be the winner tonight.

As for the other categories, the new nod of Favourite Live Act went to the Perth crew turned international juggernaut Pendulum in 2011, and there are plenty of names vying for the spot this time. Similarly, Dutch titans Armin van Buuren and Tiesto have held firm to the Favourite International Artist honour in recent years, but the competition’s pretty fierce. Then of course there are the festivals and club nights that’ll be going head-to-head, so make sure you’re right over here at 10pm tonight to see who has walked away triumphant.
